About Carson House Publishing

Carson House Publishing is the home of the Sign Language ABC Series — a 26-book collection that brings together stories, real animals, and everyday communication tools to help children learn language in a way that feels joyful, natural, and inclusive.

Each book introduces a new animal from A to Z while teaching real American Sign Language (ASL) signs, early vocabulary, and simple communication skills that work for support learners, including those who are speech delayed, autistic, and learning to communicate in different ways.

Communication isn’t one path — it’s a whole landscape.

Why This Series Exists

I’m a mom to four-year-old twins, River and Julia. Both are speech delayed and with diagnosed autism.

When we first started trying to get support, we hit the same wall again and again:

  • long waitlists for diagnosis

  • long waitlists for speech therapy (public and private)

  • limited resources we could actually use at home

By the time we finally got in front of Speech-Language Pathologists, I had a million questions — and not nearly enough practical tools.

At home, I pulled from everything I could find: Hanen, ABA, PECs, AAC, Gestalt language processing, Fitzgerald Key, power-word models, total communication, pattern disruption, frame theory and more. I wasn’t looking for one method. I was looking for something that could support different kinds of learners, in different ways, in an accessible way.
